I NEVER write reviews on anything but this school is a perfect example to why students become discouraged and turn away from education. This school is by far the worst school I have ever attended solely because of the financial aid and advising department (I've attended a total of 5 schools due to moving). I submitted all my required documents ON the due date to start in the fall semester of 2024 because there was a sudden change of plans from where I was originally going to attend. It took them 2 months to process my application, transcripts and financial aid (October) making me miss out on the start of my BSN core nursing classes. I had to settle for taking my electives during the B session, pushing back the schedule to my BSN program. Not to mention, they do not communicate effectively or provide any sort of guidance (I had to call just for them to tell me of any updates or any roadblocks that I am unaware of until I call). It takes them 30 business days for ANYTHING to be done (i am not exaggerating)... even if it's just for a simple yes/no answer. I get through the B session fall semester and register for my spring 2025 courses this January 2025 all for them to take away my classes after I submitted the first week of assignments in 4 course. Apparently, I have exceeded my bachelors degree credit limit and have to write an appeal if I want to continue taking course.. NO ONE informed me of this when I applied, started or ended my last semester. Not one advisor or financial aid representative gave a warning like it says on the website that they do. I would have planned accordingly academically and financially (since they don't believe in payment plans) had I known this information. It would take them ANOTHER 14 days just to approve or deny my appeal letter pushing me back another semester to my BSN schedule. They sit on everything and simply do not care. Dominique is the only one who actually tried helping and relieving the stress they inflicted. I would never recommend a family, friend or stranger here. I withdrew from this school expeditiously.

If you've ever found yourself standing before the Financial Aid SAP Appeal Review Board at Seminole State College of Florida, you know it feels a bit like auditioning for a reality TV show where the judges are inexplicably strict yet entirely unfazed by your life story.
Picture this: You walk in, armed with an epic saga of strugglesâhousing issues and the challenges of raising children over a decade agoâonly to be met with a panel that seems more like a council of ancient sages than financial aid reviewers. Their expressions? As stoic as a cat watching a laser pointerâentertaining but completely noncommittal.
Now, I understand that rules are rules, but denying an appeal because of events from 11 years ago feels a bit like saying, "Sorry, you can't go to the grocery store because of the way you handled your lunch money in kindergarten." Come on! Just because I had to withdraw from classes back then doesnât mean Iâm still living in a time warp. Iâve graduated to adulting 101, complete with late-night diaper changes and a subscription to âHow to Find Affordable Housing.â
The committeeâs rationale could make for a great sitcom plot. "Why did you withdraw in 2013?" âBecause my life was like an episode of Survivor, and I was voted off the islandâwhile holding a toddler.â Maybe the board is stuck in some cosmic loophole where past failures can haunt you like a bad haircut from high school.
I canât help but imagine the hidden agenda here. Perhaps they think if they deny enough appeals, theyâll finally discover the secret to eternal youth? Or maybe they just really enjoy the thrill of rejecting heartfelt pleas. Whatever the case, it's hard not to feel like they have a secret scoreboard somewhere, tallying how many years back they can dig to justify a denial.
Letâs be realâlife happens! Denying my appeal feels like a plot twist that even M. Night Shyamalan wouldnât touch. I can only hope the board reflects on the impact of their decisions. After all, denying my future because of my past seems like a storyline that deserves a bit more consideration.
So, dear Review Board, while I respect your stance, I encourage you to remember that people can change and growâespecially after a decade of juggling parenthood and housing woes. After all, if my epic journey canât qualify for a second chance, whatâs next? Banning students from ever having pets because they might get distracted during finals?
In conclusion, while I may not have the financial aid I need, I certainly have a newfound appreciation for the absurdities of the academic world. Hereâs hoping for more understandingâand perhaps a few less plot twistsâwhen it comes to the saga of student appeals!

Good luck here!
I was accepted and submitted all of my stuff 6 weeks ago and here I am (3 days from classes starting) and they still havenât processed my transcripts and financial aid. Iâm now having to drop my classes. I continue to call and email and get rude nasty staff that answers the phone who have attitude and continue to give me the run around, and continue to be given different dates of when they âacceptedâ my transcripts even though they were received nearly two weeks before the date they say. No one can explain why itâs taking so long, just âlet me put you on holdâ for 15 minutes and come back with no answer. Theyâre all clueless. Taking my time and money to a different school.

The professors are good and will meet every needs necessary for you to graduate with your Associateâs. But the staff? Equivalent to a ghetto McDonaldâs. Arguably the most unprofessional people Iâve dealt with. I always have issues and end up contacting every semester since they donât know what theyâre doing. Then when you speak to them they hold an attitude like theyâre the dmv. Iâm not sure if Valencia has these same type of people as well, but new SSC students have been warned. Check niche or ratemyprofessor if youâre looking for professor quality. So happy Iâm graduating soon to get out of this dumpster fire.

This place ruined my grades and especially the people at student services who are new and didn't learn properly on how to schedule classes for students or get things in order. First time an incident happened was charging me $70 out of nowhere for textbooks I didn't have to pay for because the cashier charged me on the wrong financial account and it took 2 days to process this. Second time was a student service specialist telling me the last minute saying I can't enroll into FTIC unless I'm near my highschool senior year and then someone else saying "well you need your diploma" which one is it then?!
This is the third time an incident happened where I was 3 weeks into my summer courses and I suddenly got removed around 12:28 a.m when I was going to turn in my assignments and even the aleks portion of my science class was removed too. Ya'll need to get your act together and when hiring new people, make sure to train them on everything smh

List of problems with this place. They will revise your aid without telling you until you have reached the point of not being able to drop a class. Very unprofessional and unorganized people working here. Be careful attending school here, so far itâs a shady place.

This college has the whole experience. From your professors truly caring about you, to the environmental staff that is top notch and friendly, to your choice of educational directions. All of the experience, without Uni prices. Iâm a tenured professor here and my husband is an adjunct. However, we are also alumni. From this college alone, I received my AA, AS, EMT, and Paramedic. My husband received his AA, AS, EMT, Paramedic, firefighting, AND BS Degree all from SSC! Our son will follow in our footsteps and will also become a student at SSC. Highly recommended!!!!!!

The registration department for enrollment is absolutely the worse I've ever dealt with. The staff is so rude and even in dealing with management level they were absolutely ignorant. Not one of the top schools I would suggest to anyone moving to Florida in the next year. Ughhhhhh!!!
